CHARLES S. PAINTER, Partner

Charlie is the Assistant Managing Partner of Ericksen Arbuthnot's Sacramento office and is Co-Chair of the firm's Products Liability practice group. He is AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.  

During his career, Charlie has handled cases involving all aspects of civil litigation and has successfully litigated numerous high exposure cases in both state and federal courts. He successfully defended the first "failure to warn" pharmaceutical products liability case to be tried to verdict in the United States on the issue of whether aspirin causes Reye's syndrome. He has provided defense for complex business litigation, including class action lawsuits. The scope of his practice also includes toxic tort, employment and wrongful termination, products liability, construction defect, professional errors and omissions of health care practitioners, and real estate agents and brokers.

Charlie is a member of both the California and Oregon State Bars. He is also a member of the Sacramento County Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute. He lectures on a variety of legal topics, including document retention and electronic discovery. Charlie has extensive experience in mediating cases.

He and his wife, Marcia, have been married for over thirty years and have raised two wonderful children. They reside in Fair Oaks, California.
