The Alternative Dispute Resolution practice group offers mediation and arbitration services to clients who want to resolve conflicts without going through litigation. We have helped a wide range of clients avoid litigation by successfully using Alternative Dispute Resolution tools.

Our clients know that this approach can reduce or eliminate discovery costs, as well as significantly reduce the amount of time spent resolving their conflicts. Alternative Dispute Resolution also causes less disruption to regular business operations and allows our clients to have more privacy than traditional litigation allows.

Practice group members George Hernandez and Robert Lofton have written an article on “The Fate of Mandatory Arbitration Agreements in Employment Disputes” that includes information on the Federal Arbitration Act, the Armendariz standard in California, the Arbitration Fairness Act, and other recent legislation.

Representative Matters
  • Settled mediation in two hours. Movie theater patron alleged that she tripped over defect on floor and asserted continuous and ongoing injury requiring surgery. She also stated that defendant failed to render any meaningful assistance after the fall. Defendant movie theater claimed there was no defect and that plaintiff was heavily impeached by her own testimony and also claimed that its employees did render assistance, and that plaintiff could not give coherent account of incident.
