Andrew Sclar, Joseph J. (J.J.) Minioza, Douglas (Gregory) Kilduff, David Frankenberger and William Buttry Are Selected as 2017 Super Lawyers

Andrew Sclar, Joseph J. (J.J.) Minioza, Douglas (Gregory) Kilduff, David Frankenberger and William Buttry have been selected for the 2017 Northern California Super Lawyer list. Super Lawyers rates outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process is multi-phased and includes independent research, peer nominations and peer evaluations.
This is the fourth year Mr. Sclar has been named a Super Lawyer. He is AV® Peer Review Rated Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell, signifying the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards. He is the Managing Partner of the firm’s San Francisco office and serves as a member of Ericksen Arbuthnot’s Board of Directors.
Mr. Sclar is also Co-Chair of Ericksen Arbuthnot’s Insurance Coverage practice group. He advises clients by issuing coverage opinions on a wide range of insurance issues arising under a variety of insurance policies, including general liability, property, errors and omissions, standard form, manuscript, primary and excess. Mr. Sclar also represents clients in insurance coverage litigation, including declaratory relief actions, defense of extra contractual liability claims, insurance policy rescission actions and subrogation and contribution actions under additional insured endorsements.
Mr. Sclar also specializes in defending professional liability claims, including claims against lawyers, real estate agents and insurance agents and brokers. He has a broad range of additional experience handling construction defect and construction site accident cases, as well as wrongful termination, premises liability, products liability, commercial and residential landlord-tenant matters, and commercial trucking cases. He has been with Ericksen Arbuthnot since 1985, has successfully tried cases in many Bay Area courts and has a strong track record in representing clients in state and federal appeals.

Mr. Minioza is a trial attorney specializing in defending companies and insurance carriers in many types of civil litigation, including employment, real estate and construction, personal injury, and commercial disputes. He has tried numerous cases to verdicts with a high degree of success in state and federal court in the San Francisco Bay Area. He also has extensive experience in arbitrating and mediating complex claims and suits.
This is the second year Mr. Kilduff has been acknowledged as a Super Lawyer. He is the President of the firm and a member of its Board of Directors. He is also the managing partner of the Sacramento office. He is AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale Hubbell. His practice includes defending construction site injury, motor vehicle, commercial trucking and auto cases, premises liability and products liability cases.
Within his diverse litigation practice, Mr. Kilduff has also defended medical professionals, medical facilities and elder abuse cases. In addition, he has real estate litigation experience defending the interests of real estate professionals, such as home inspectors. He has trial experience in state and federal courts.

Mr. Frankenberger’s practice includes complex state court and federal court litigation involving professional liability/errors and omissions defense; MVA accident defense; trucking defense; personal injury; premises liability; product liability, and construction defect liability for both subcontractors and developers. In addition he defends healthcare matters, including claims against doctors, nurses, chiropractors and dentists. His products liability experience includes cases for manufacturers, distributors and retailers. Over the course of his career, Dave has successfully tried numerous matters to jury verdict, in both state and federal court, including six jury trials to verdict in the past three years.
Mr. Frankenberger has also written articles on Construction Risk Management/Dispute Avoidance and one for the Defense Research Institute’s publication Defense Ethics and Professionalism, titled “Prevent Costly Misunderstandings: Non-Engagement Letters.” He has given a number of presentations, including at MC2’s Annual West Region Construction Defect & Insurance Coverage Conference in San Diego, California in 2013 and 2015 and the Annual West Coast Casualty Conference in Anaheim, California in 2014.
This is the third year Mr. Buttry has been acknowledged as a Super Lawyer Rising Star representing the top 2.5% of Lawyers in Northern California. His experience includes breach of contract, medical malpractice, wrongful termination, toxic torts, premises liability, personal injury defense, unfair business practices and complex civil litigation. He is also actively involved in the local community, including providing pro bono services at Central California Legal Services and is actively involved in the Fresno County Unified’ s CART law lab. Mr. Buttry has taken numerous cases to trial, obtaining successful outcomes for his clients. He has practiced in a large number of venues up and down the State of California, including Los Angeles County, San Diego County, Alameda County, Stanislaus County, Kern County, Fresno County and many more.
