Human Resources Manager - Corporate Office

A California statewide AV-Rated Civil Law Defense Firm has a 30-hour part-time opportunity with benefits for a Human Resources Manager.

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three to five (3-5) years of Human Resources management, including supervisory or lead experience.  Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in HR required.


The HR Manager is responsible for overseeing the HR-related practices, processes and strategies for the Firm. The duties include overseeing the recruitment process, which includes the onboarding of firm personnel; maintaining and updating the Employee Handbook and HR-related policies; handling employee relations issues; and ensuring the Firm is in compliance with all federal, state and local employment laws.

  • Manage talent acquisition and onboarding processes for new hires
  • Oversee the performance review process for all employees
  • Identify and address training needs at all levels of staffing as well as opportunities to improve firm processes
  • Working knowledge to process and manage all leaves of absences, reasonable accommodations requests and disability issues under FMLA, CFRA, and other HR relevant laws
  • Partner with management on implementation of programs and initiatives including diversity and inclusion, workplace flexibility and wellness
  • Building strong working relationships with staff, Firm Administrator and board members while maintaining open lines of communication between HR and the BOD
  • Evaluate employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices and present recommendations to the Board of Directors
  • Communicate  and implement new Firm policies to employees firmwide                                          
  • Maintain human resource records


  • Experience: Three to five (3-5) years of increasingly responsible Human Resources management experience.
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university or relevant job experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Handle confidential business matters and information with discretion
  • PHR-CA/SPHR or other relevant certifications are preferred
  • Hybrid schedule possible
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail, and able to respond to changing priorities
  • Knowledge of HR policies, benefits administration, compensation and wage structure preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Hands on experience with payroll and HRIS software preferred
