James G. Gilyard is Senior Counsel in the Firm’s Oakland/East Bay office.
He is United States Marine Corps Veteran who earned his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law. In addition to serving as an Academic Support Program tutor in the subjects of contracts, torts, and constitutional law, he also served as an extern for the San Francisco Human Rights Commission. After graduating from law school, Mr. Gilyard clerked for California Supreme Court Justice Honorable Martin J. Jenkins (formerly judge of the federal court for the Northern District of California).
Mr. Gilyard has a diverse practice and has handled catastrophic personal injury, products liability, antitrust, consumer protection class actions, construction, securities, and disability discrimination cases.
Mr. Gilyard grew up in San Francisco where he lettered in three sports (football, track, and wrestling) in high school and went on to play football at San Francisco State University. While in the Marine Corps, he qualified for the All Marine Weightlifting Team. He continues to spend much of his spare time training and working out.
