Sharon L. Hightower

Sharon is a partner and shareholder at the Silicon Valley/San Francisco office of Ericksen Arbuthnot. During her twenty-nine years with the firm, her areas of practice have focused on the defense of medical and psychological malpractice, employment litigation, personal injury and product liability. She handles appellate and administrative law matters in addition to civil lawsuits. She co-chairs the Healthcare Practice Group and is a member of the Employment Practice Group and the Product Liability Group.  

Sharon is AV Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and is a newly elected member of  the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). She is an experienced trial attorney with an excellent record of defense verdicts. Sharon has gained the respect of her colleagues for her success at trial as well as through the ADR process.

Prior to joining the firm in 1988, Sharon had a twenty-one year career as a dental hygienist which has assisted in her ability to evaluate and prepare cases within the healthcare arena as well as in the various practice areas. She graduated from Lincoln University Law School in 1987 and serves on the Board of Trustees for the institution.

She serves on the ADR Committee for the Superior Court and has volunteered for the past seventeen years in the court’s Temporary Judge and ADR programs. She also conducts fee arbitrations for the Santa Clara County Bar Association. In 2013, Sharon was awarded the Justice Byrl R. Salsman Award from the Santa Clara County Bar Association for contributions to community and the profession in 2013. With various terms over the past 21years, she has served as a Commissioner and the Hearing Officer for the City of San Jose Civil Service Commission.

Sharon has written a number of articles on current issues facing the practice of law, has presented seminars for Lincoln University Law School, the State Bar Annual Meeting, a number of insurance carriers, and appeared on a community based television show entitled “The Law and You”.
